China Import and Export Fair, also called Canton Fair or Guangzhou Fair is the largest biannual trade fair in China and Southeast Asia in terms of exhibitors, business turnover and attendance with buyers coming from all over the world. Canton Fair is a unique opportunity to meet a very large number of Chinese companies and to check the quality of their products and their technological advances and breakthroughs. This multi-functional event of international importance represents the best opportunity to find out novelties and innovations as regards building materials, construction industry, machinery, new technologies, renewable energy, solar energy, consumer electronics, electrical vehicles, furniture, home decoration and equipment, clothes and bedding, textiles & clothing, disposable medical supplies, medical equipment, pharmaceuticals, high tech, etc… Canton Fair is held twice a year in Spring and Autumn since it was inaugurated in the Spring of 1957. This trade fair includes 3 phases. In 2011, the 109e session of the Spring 2011 Canton Fair reached a record attendance of buyers and sellers from China and from abroad. A total of more than 36 billion U.S. dollars of commercial transactions were concluded. The number of exhibitors at the 109th Canton Fair augmented to 24215, making it a total of 816 more exhibitors compared with last year’s session. 207000 visitors coming from all over the world attended Spring 2011 Canton Fair; among them 72491 were visiting it for the first time. The 110th session of Canton Fair autumn 2011 attracted nearly 210,000 trade buyers from 210 countries and regions and achieved $38 billion in business transactions, a 3% increase over the 109th session in the spring 2011. Canton Trade Fair remains China’s top trade fair but the following Canton Fair, Edition in fall 2012 witnessed a decrease in both visitors and turnover. This 112th session showed a 9.3-percent fall in turnover compared with the 111th session in spring 2012 and 10.5 percent lower than the 110th session in fall 2011. Only 188,145 overseas participants from 211 countries and regions have visited the 112th session of the Canton Fair, among them over 73.3 percent were regular participants. Orders from the traditional market of European countries and more notably from Japan showed a sharp decline, while those from emerging markets only witnessed minor declines. The two editions of Canton Fair in 2013 and in 2014 have confirmed the decline in the number of visitors at Canton Fair. For the next edition of the fair in April 2015, the organizers expect to attract over 200,000 buyers coming from 210 countries and regions. The Phase 1 of the 117th Canton Fair in Spring 2015 will be held from the 15 to 19 April 2015, the Phase 2 from the 23 to 27 April 2015, and phase 3 from the 1 to 5 May 2015. The Phase 1 of the 118th Canton Fair, fall 2015 will take place from the 15 to 19 October 2015, the Phase 2 from the 23 to 27 October 2015, and phase 3 from the 31st October to the 4th November 2015.
